Do I
need a big yard for rides?
No, the
ponies are hand led, and we can ride anywhere. We can make do
with alleys, quiet streets, and small yards.
What happens when it rains?
Kids
don't mind the rain, and neither do the ponies. If you can look 'em
in the eye and tell 'em, "The ponies aren't coming because of the
rain," you may cancel!
Children won't notice the rain when there is a pony in the
backyard!
If possible stage the children in the garage so there is shelter
while they wait for their turn.
Should I book longer than 1 hour?
We
only schedule 1 hours sessions for parties. You can add more
riding time with 2 ponies.
Can anyone ride the ponies?
For the
safety of the ponies and riders, children must be under 75 lbs.
What kind of pony is that?
Our
ponies are Shetlands and Welsh, and one that is a Dartmoor
pony.
Is
he/she full grown?
Yes.
Some people think a pony is a young horse, a pony is a small
horse. Ponies by definition are under 14 hands at the whither
(highest point on the back), that's 56 inches in human height. A
young horse would be a foal, a colt (male) or filly (female).
What is a hand?
One
hand equals 4 inches, (based on the width of a hand).
Are
the pony rides going to wreck my lawn?
No,
the ponies are pretty small, and we don't make divits or wear down
the grass.
If the grass is really rain soaked and there are bare patches, we
may make a little mud, this is rare. We are meticulous with our
clean up.
How
long do they live?
I've
heard of ponies living to be 35 to 40 years old. Good nutrition,
exercise, health care (including dentistry), and good confirmation
playing key roles.
